‘Learning disability GP health checks show results’ says BBC

The BBC have published information about the use of health checks for people with learning disabilities in identifying problems.

The study highlighted, published in the Lancet, showed that surgeries who offered health checks were twice as likely to identify problems and draw up health plans.

But only 6 out of 10 surgeries in England offer these checks, and only 40% of people with learning disabilities are benefiting. Some of the barriers are a lack of awareness, complicated by admin errors.
